Camping areas at the park are endless!

For the adventurous campers, there are numerous clearings throughout the bush that give the feeling of solitude and serenity, not too far away from civilisation (although you'd never know it)

If you like camping a little closer, there is a large open picnic area with woodfired BBQ's just behind the toliet/shower block

Campfires are permitted throughout the park in non-fire restriction months (May - November) and there is plenty of wood to be scavengeged.  A campfire circle with log seats is also located in an open area near the BBQ's for larger fires and group activities

Park caretakers are to be notified prior to any proposed fire to monitor conditions and approve the location

Water taps are available for connection to your own hose

Caravans are permitted in the unpowered camping areas for those who can live without the luxuries and want a bit more privacy

TV reception however is poor due to the thickness of the bush, so make sure you bring a good book!

All groups are welcome to hire our facilities, overnight or even just for the day.  We often have team building days or workshops held in our main hall, or on our open arena.  The initiative course is a great place to bond, followed by a BBQ afterwards.  Orienteering day trips are popular considering our proximity to surrounding communities.

Recent groups who've visited the park include: Church groups, playgroups, schools, community groups, acting groups, band camps, dancing groups, environmental groups - the list goes on...

Families often hire our facilities for large get togethers, birthdays, reunions or other special occasions.

Large groups could take advantage of our "Exclusive use" option, hiring the entire park including both facilities and surrounding grounds and activities (enquire with our caretakers)

 Brucknell Park Mountain Bike Track

is closed to public until further notice.

No riding is permitted.

The Warrnambool Mountain Bike Club and South West District Scout
Association are currently working in partnership with Corangamite Shire to
secure funding to develop a world class Cross Country Mountain Bike Track
at Brucknell Park. The track will be designed and built by World Trails,
an Australian company led by Glen Jacobs who have contributed to over 200
competition mountain bike tracks in 18 countries across the globe.

Site inspections and consultation have commenced, made possible by funding
provided by Corangamite Shire. Updates will be posted on this platform
from time to time.

The ultimate goal of the club and scouts is to have an awesome 6-8km track
that can be used by members of the public. Eventually hosting rounds of
the State (and maybe even National) Cross Country Series will be a
possibility, in turn establishing a key step towards a talent development
pathway for promising riders in South WeSt Victoria.

Orienteering is a fun way for kids to get some great exercise whilst learning to follow instructions and find their way.

The park has three basic orienteering courses developed which can be followed easily with or without a compass.  There are questions to answer along the way to make things a bit more challenging.  (Download below)

Alternatively, create your own course or just follow the bush tracks and find your way back!

The games arena is a huge open area (soccer field size) located adjacent to the Coleman Hall, kept nicely mowed for games of all types

Also there is a large open space near the picnic area, and surrounding the Neville Dance Training Centre

Local scouting groups often frequent their district scout huts located at the park.

Other Scouting groups are encouraged to come and enjoy our facilities, and reciprocal rates can be discussed with our park caretakers.

Park badges can be purchased onsite at the caretakers office.

The history of the park goes back to the early 1900’s when it was purchased by the South Western District Scout Association and developed for local groups as a get away for troop camps. Numerous volunteers contributed tirelessly to the immense task of developing winding tracks throughout the park and clearing an area to build recreational facilities.

On 16th February 1983 tragedy struck in the form of the infamous Ash Wednesday bushfires, totally destroying all buildings since erected, leaving the bushland blackened and scarred from its ferociousness.

The tough Aussie bush has since rejuvenated, bursting with colour and abundant wildlife, including numerous specious of birdlife. Kangaroos and Wallabies who now call the park home can often be spotted drinking from the small creek which gently flows through the centre of the bush.

All activites within the park are available to groups staying, included in the hiring cost.

There are plenty of things to do to keep both young and old entertained, whilst enjoying the clean bush air.

Although quite safe, adult supervision is required for children using the equipment

Other facilities include:

Trampoline

Walking tracks

Woodfired BBQ's / campfires (May - November)

Picnic Tables

Public payphone

Small flowing creek

Table tennis table (Coleman Hall)

Soccer / footballs / cricket stumps (Coleman Hall)
